SIG Supported Legislation

The Secretaries' Innovation Group proposed to and worked with Rep. Steve Southerland (FL-2) to pass the SNAP Work Demonstration as part of the Agricultural Act of 2014 (the Farm Bill).  The bill authorizes ten states to operate projects to engage able-bodied adults in TANF-like work and training activities.  Similar demonstration projects were instrumental in paving the way for the landmark 1996 welfare reform law which created the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.
